Compatibility with SONA

Can I paste an survey-specific URL into SONA Systems and add a code at the end so that this system picks up the SONA ID number, thus enabling me to know who to give credit to for completing the survey?

  • Hi Darcey,

It is absolutely possible to copy and paste URL to a survey created with the help of our application to any website or a portal, including SONA Systems.
It is also possible to add a unique code at the end of the link. The code can be uploaded previously, or your respondents can enter their login for example so the system and you will be able to identify the person.

As for automating this process - well, it would be better to discuss the needed level of automation and possible side requirements of yours.

  • I know that I can copy and paste the URL code into SONA system, which I did. However, anytime I attempted to add the %SURVEY_CODE% suffix the link would take participants to the first page of the study but not allow them to progress (it gave them an error code that it couldn't save their data). Not until I removed that code were students able to progress. I didn't want to ask students to input their SONA id code because many do not know it off-hand or know how to easily find it.
So, should I be using a code other than the one listed above at the end of the URL to make the system store the participants' SONA id numbers?

    Dear Darcey,

A survey can capture variables appended to its URL as answers to questions, if the survey has questions set up to use URL Import and the parameter names and variables are added to the URL in the correct format. So if the remote system (in this case, SONA) can automatically replace a variable name in the URL (like %SURVEY_CODE%) with respondent-specific data, the survey can capture it.

For the full details on URL Import, please see this page: http://help.worldapp.com/display/FHC/URL+Import. If you have any trouble implementing it, please do not hesitate to contact us via Live Support chat or phone for immediate assistance.
