Please separate Layout/CSS Admin rights from main Admin account!

... Or allow Admin user to hand them over to a sub-user.

I'm sure there are plenty of companies in this case: the Key Survey Admin is usually someone who needs to be the admin because they are responsible for content, deployment, task distribution etc. (or they are just Super Admins who manage admin rights for everything company-wide), and the Theme or CSS of the survey is not within their competence; while the person who works on the CSS is a Web or Graphic Designer, programmer, etc. i.e. a person who works only on the survey appearance and html code and may not need or be warranted to have all the other Admin rights.

Right now, each time I make a change to the CSS, instead of making then centrally into our company themes, I have to 1) create a copy under my custom themes, 2) make the edits, and then 3) have the Admin load the whole code from my custom theme into our company theme, then 4) go back and apply the company theme to the survey to make sure the changes will be applied to all surveys using our theme going forward.

Also, as a sub-user, I cannot apply question-specific CSS edits, which is a big part of what I'd need to do, now that our themes are mostly defined.

Finally, no other user than myself can access or see the custom Themes I create. I would have to bother the Admin each time to reproduce them under Administrator Themes so people can access them, or apply them myself.

Add the fact that I work in a different time zone than the most of the people I work with and it all becomes VERY time consuming and inconvenient.

  • Currently, administration abilities regarding Layout page and Themes library are very limited. Admin can only allow sub-users to see his custom themes.

And in order for a sub-user to share his/her custom theme, the theme needs to be applied to a survey from which Admin need to create a custom theme in the main account. Basically, this is the same workaround you are currently using.

A suggestion to develop more advanced administrative functionality for Layout survey page has been added to our WIsh List. For you reference, the ticket number is WL-1226

Regarding the issue with applying CSS changes by a sub-account user. This issue has been resolved and now you can edit CSS code of the surveys or custom themes created under sub-user account.
