As you may know the ‘Google map’ plug-in does not have a ‘default position’ option on its settings page. Map cursor is always placed at the same default location in the middle of the map. However, there is a workaround how we can set our custom default location on the map using survey Autofill feature. More information can be found in our Help Guide: http://www.keysurvey.com/WebHelp/Help....
Autofill can only be used when survey is distributed using Key Survey email distribution system or when there is a password protection in a survey. To accomplish this, please follow the steps below:
A. Survey set-up
1. Go to the survey ‘Questions’ page and add a question of ‘Single line text with pre-format options’ with one field. This question will be used either for passwords or email addresses, depending on the distribution method that will be used. This question can e hidden, so that respondents do not see it.
2. Add another Single line question that will be used for ‘Google map’ plug-in. This question should have three text fields, for Latitude, Longitude and Description.
3. Go to the survey Rules page, click [Plugins] button and then click [Add New Plugin] button.
4. Click [Insert] button to the right of the ‘Google map’ plug-in to add it into the survey.
5. Specify question references for Latitude, Longitude and Description using the following format Qx.Ay, where x is the question number and y is the answer option number. For example, if the Single line question that stores Latitude, Longitude and Description is #2 in the survey then the question references are as follows: Q2.A1, Q2.A2 and Q2.A3.
6. Specify map position in the survey using Qx format. Map will be displayed above this question.
7. Now, you need to map fields for autofill.
8. Please go to the survey Launch page and click [Go] button next to the ‘Email survey distribution’ or ‘Password survey protection’.
9. For Email survey distribution:
a. On the next page, please select ‘Import email list for bulk survey distribution’ option under step 2 and click [Format Data File] button.
b. On the ‘Format Data File’ page, please move ‘email’ and ‘google map’ questions from the left box to the right.
c. Specify email field number in the small text box below and click [Save] button.
d. Tick off ‘Overwrite’ box for the ‘google map’ question. This will allow respondents to change default position of the map cursor.
e. Click [Save] button to save changes and [Back] button to return to the previous page.
f. Now you can upload .csv file and distribute the survey
9. For Password survey protection:
a. On the next page, please move ‘email’ and ‘google map’ questions from the left box to the right.
b. Click [Set Format] button and then select ‘password field’.
c. Import data file and click [Activate Password] button.
d. Now you can distribute survey Master URL to respondents.
B. Creating .csv file:
* Please use MS Excel to create a file with the data for autofill. There should be at least four fields, for email, latitude, longitude and description.
* Use ‘Save as’ option to save the file as .csv.
C. You can open survey using Preview option to determine default latitude and longitude. Just use the google map to place its cursor in the position you want to be default and then copy latitude and longitude values from the text fields to your datafile.
It is also possible to use URL Import functionality to pre-populate default latitude and longitude into the survey. More information about this can be found here http://www.keysurvey.com/WebHelp/Help...
