Using images as column headers

Is it possible to use an image as a column header in a 3D matrix question? I have a list of attributes, and I want the respondent to choose all that apply to each image. There are too many attributes to include them across the top, so I wanted to put the images across the top and the attributes down the side.

Thanks,
Tammy

  • It is absolutely possible to use images in column headers of a 3D Matrix question.

    1. First off you need to have all images published somewhere on the web to have its link.
    2. When creating customized scale for a 3D Matrix questions, please use the following HTML code ti embed image into scale header:
    <img src='Image_link_here'>
    For example: <img src='http://keysurvey.com/User/Q100365.gif'>

As a workaround to publish images online you can use survey questions:
    1. You can create a separate survey that you will use as an imaged holder or you can create additional question in the survey and have that question hidden from respondents
    2. Create as many dummy answer options in the question as many images you need to attach.
    3. Use Add Image option to attach an image to each answer option and click Save.
    4. To get link of an image, please right click on its thumbnail and select Properties or View Image info depending on the browser you are using.
    5. Copy image link from the properties window and use it in the HTML to embed image into scale header.

    Thanks Victor:

This helps a lot and I will definitely use this feature in the future. Now, to make it more difficult...

What if the images I want to use as column headers are those selected from a larger list in a previous question? In other words, is there a way to pipe in the consumer's 2 choices into the 2 columns from a list of 8 they originally chose from?

  • Piping does not work for column headers. However, there is a workaround how you can show/hide certain columns based on a criterion.

    1. You will need to create columns for each list item with embedded image into header text.
    2. Then use Hide Questions Interactively plug-in to hide columns for those items that were not selected from the list. More information about this plug-in can be found in the Help Guide http://www.keysurvey.com/WebHelp/Help...

You need to create as many rules as many items you have in the list. Rules would be of the following format:
    NOT Qx.A1 hide Qn.C1
    NOT Qx.A2 hide Qn.C2
    and so on.
